Linen (flax) is a bast fibre extracted from the stalk of the flax plant. Linen fibre is soft, shiny, and flexible. It has less elasticity than cotton but does offer superior strength. Linen is often used in warps that require high tension and very little stretch. When you first use a bast linen fibre or yarn, it can feel a rigid but with use and heat the fibres breat in making the fibre comfortable, breathable and a long lasting yarn.
