Megado Computer Dobby 2.0 - 16 or 32 Shaft | Louet

The Megado Dobby 2.0 is HERE!!!

The Megado computer dobby 2.0 comes with a small touchscreen computer and a secure internet connection. Connect your own device (smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC with Wifi) to the simple and user-friendly Louët weaving portal and you are good to go:

  • Through Wifi or a USB stick, you can open any existing pattern in wif format in the portal. Of course, you can also open the patterns you have made using your own weaving software, provided that this software supports wif-files.
  • In the portal, you can also directly design your pattern. This works almost the same way as programming a mechanical dobby: a filled box corresponds to a shaft tie-on.

The pattern can always be easily customized and saved. You can add a tabby, for instance for a summer/winter fabric, by pressing a button.

It is also possible to connect your laptop or computer directly to the Megado computer dobby 2.0 and then control it with weaving software programs that support our looms. It will work the same way as with the old-generation interfaces.

The advantage of the Louët weaving portal is that, with your permission, we can look in from a distance and update the software. Changes in operating systems will no longer trouble you and any improvements and additions to our portal can be made from a distance.

In addition to the new software, the hardware has also improved. Some of these improvements are also implemented for the Octado and Magic Dobby interfaces, namely:

  • power supply suitable for all voltages and frequencies by automatic selection;
  • 40% less power consumption by the solenoids due to a built-in delay you won’t even notice;
  • less noise due to a temperature-controlled fan.

A hardware change made only for the Megado computer dobby 2.0 is the external power supply, making the new wooden dobby box more compact. There is also less need for cooling, so the fan will be more quiet.

Megado is available with 16 or 32 harnesses and in 40 cm, 70 cm, 90 cm, 110 cm and 130 cm weaving widths. Megado is made of lacquered ash hardwood and the most complex castle section is pre-assembled. Included are: a large shelf, built-in raddle, a stainless steel reed 40-10 (metric), Texsolv heddles (390 mm), lease and tie-up sticks and sixteen warp sticks.

Dobby looms
A dobby loom has a dobby mechanism, which is used to program the harness combinations for the weave pattern. Dobby is short for “draw boy” which refers to the weaver’s helper who was used to control the warp thread by pulling on draw threads. The dobby mechanism replaces the treadle/lam combination of the traditional floor looms. The performance of a multi-harness loom is vastly improved by using a dobby mechanism, as it overcomes the major problems associated with the use of a large number of treadles.

A dobby loom allows you to select the combination of harnesses for every shed opening you wish to make. The great advantage of a dobby loom is that it avoids the necessity and the labour involved in making multiple tie-ups to treadle positioned underneath a loom. An investment in a Louët Dobby ensures many years of comfortable and productive weaving.

The electronic dobby will give you almost unlimited harness combinations using a computer and software from Fiberworks PCW, Patternland, Wavemaker, Weave It, WeavePoint or Pro Weave, which all work with the Louët electronic interface. Connect your laptop and weave.

Easy treadling
Both Octado and Megado looms feature a countermarch shed. This is accomplished by raising the back beam at the same time as the shafts are being raised. The beam movement also compensates for changes in warp tension as the shed is made. An innovative construction ensures the action of the well-balanced pedal is very light in operation. This main pedal and also the optional weaving bench are adjustable in height to accommodate the weaver’s physical requirements.

As with our Delta and Spring looms, Octado and Megado have the Louët sprung breast beam, a unique warp tension control system, which allows the weaver to set and check the warp tension each time the warp is advanced.

These innovative design features give our Octado and Megado looms an indisputable advantage over other competitive products. No other multi-harness loom treadles as light and creates as large a shed, even with very high tension on the warp.
