Crackle Cloths
Here is the basic recipe Samantha Gehrmann follows for creating washcloths in her household. While her family prefers firmer cloth, you can adjust the sett to suit your preferences, whether preferring a more open or firmer cloth, different dimensions, or yarns. You can experiment and adjust the sett as needed for personal liking. Samantha wove these cloths using a Schacht Baby Wolf Weaving Loom.
Along with a PDF, you will also receive a WIF file that will show you how to thread the loom or treadle. It can be opened in Fiberworks (free trial available), iWeaveit, WeaveIt Pro, or other weaving softwares.
Loom Requirements:
- To weave the project, you will need a loom with a weaving width of at least 15 inches (16 inches for a looser sett), and it needs at least 4 shafts and, if not a table loom, 6 treadles such as the floor looms found here.
- 2 boat shuttles or 1 boat shuttle and 1 double bobbin boat shuttle
- Bobbins, pirns, or quills to fit
The finished size will be approximately 32 x 32 cm (12.5 x 12.5 inches).
