Knitting for Olive began in 2015 as a heartfelt family endeavour—just a mother and daughter, Pernille and Caroline, creating knitting patterns to envelope babies and toddlers in. What started with a love for natural fibres and delicate designs quickly evolved. As the family grew (with Caroline's brother Alexander joining in 2022), so did their vision.

This Danish brand didn't chase trends. Instead, it followed values: purity, sustainability, and care. In 2016, they launched their own yarn line, beginning with Merino, and laid the foundation for what is now a trusted name in ethical fibre production. From sourcing mulesing-free wool to ensuring animal welfare through RAF certification, Knitting for Olive has shown the world that knitting can be beautiful and responsible.

The Merino component is certified under the Responsible Wool Standard, ensuring both animal welfare and environmental care.

The recycled portion comes from leftover wool fibres (by-products of other yarn production) that would otherwise go to waste. Instead of discarding these fibres, they're collected and spun with fresh Merino to create a yarn that's not only environmentally responsible but also strong and versatile. The Merino helps stabilise the yarn's structure, preventing the fragility often found in 100% recycled yarns.
