Fly shuttle device for Spring 2, Octado, and David 3
The flying shuttle utilises a shuttle track (shuttle race), which runs along the front of the beater from side to side. The shuttle travels in this shuttle race. The lower threads of the shed rest on the race, and the fly shuttle slides over them. This shuttle is controlled by flicking the shuttle back and forth, which allows easy weaving on a wide loom.
The Louet fly shuttle device for select Louet floor looms is made from lacquered solid ash. A special shuttle with hardened ends is required for use in a fly shuttle.
