Knitting for Olive’s Heavy Merino is a beautifully warm, sturdy yarn that’s made for everyday wear. Spun from 100% traceable, non-mulesed merino wool, it has a more rustic feel than their finer Merino, thanks to fibres taken slightly further from the sheep’s skin. This makes it strong, long-wearing, and perfect for cosy sweaters, cardigans, and knits that are built to last.
Though it’s not quite as soft as its lighter-weight sibling, Heavy Merino holds its shape well and resists pilling, making it a great choice for garments you’ll reach for again and again. Pair it with Soft Silk Mohair if you’re after a bit more fluff and softness.
The wool is fully traceable, meaning Knitting for Olive knows exactly where it comes from—and can ensure the animals are raised with care and the farmers are treated fairly. While this particular merino isn’t RWS-certified (yet), it’s still sourced with the same ethical values at heart.
