Complex weaving you can take with you.
The Louet Magic Dobby is a portable table loom that can be used as a portable multi-shaft table loom by using a lever to open the shed, or it can be mounted to a floor stand and use a treadle to open the shed. The front and rear sections of the Magic Dobby fold up towards the castle, for easy storage or travel. The Magic Dobby has two interface options, a mechanical dobby and electronic interface dobby.
The Louet Magic Dobby is available in 40 cm (15 3/4”) and 70 cm (27 5/8”) weaving widths. The loom is made of a quality lacquered beech.
The Magic Dobby loom comes with the main castle section assembled, a floor stand with treadle, swivel (pivot) beater system, raddle, a stainless steel reed 40-10 (metric), 600/800 Texsolv heddles, lease and tie-up sticks and sixteen warp sticks.
The Dobby Interface
A dobby loom has a dobby mechanism, which is used to program the treadling combinations for the weave pattern. The word dobby is short for “draw boy” which refers to the weaver’s helper who was used to control the warp thread by pulling on draw threads. The dobby mechanism allows a loom to use a multi-shaft system without having to have a large quantity of treadles. There is also no need to get under the loom to change the treadle and tie up of a standard countermarch loom. An investment in a Louët Magic Dobby loom ensures many years of comfortable and productive weaving.
The Louet Mechanical Dobby is a program bar with pegs dobby system. The numbered holes in the program bars correspond with harnesses of the loom. In order to raise a harness you insert a peg in the corrosponding hole of the program bar. The draft sequence of program bars can be as long as you like; however larger sequences may be better suited to an electronic interface.
Computer Electronic Interface
The Louet Electronic Computer Dobby will give you almost unlimited harness combinations. The electronic interface uses a computer and weaving software from Fiberworks PCW, PixieLoom, Proweave, Weave it, Weavemaker, WeavePoint or Winweef, which all work with the Louët electronic interface.
