For this special CAL, one of Eleonora’s much-loved blanket designs has been reimagined in six fresh colour palettes, each inspired by a picturesque picnic destination. From the colours to the textures, every palette captures the relaxed beauty and atmosphere of its inspiration, giving you the chance to create a blanket with its own distinctive character.

The Perfect Picnic blanket combines a lovely mix of crochet techniques. You’ll work with front and back relief stitches, cheerful bobbles, simple Tunisian crochet and a join-as-you-go construction. Familiar stitches sit alongside new techniques, making this a rewarding project for crocheters who want to expand their skills while enjoying the creative process. As the blanket grows, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to experiment with colour, texture and stitch definition.

The CAL takes place from 21 October to 9 December 2026, with a new part of the project released throughout the event. Eleonora’s detailed video tutorials make each stage easier to follow, while Scheepjes moderators in the official Facebook groups are on hand to offer guidance and support. You can crochet along at your own pace while sharing the experience with a worldwide community of fellow makers.

Each kit gives you everything you need to crochet the blanket in your chosen colour combination, with the exception of crochet hooks.

The finished blanket made with Scheepjes Cotton Create DK measures approximately 115 x 92cm after blocking. This version is crocheted using 3.00mm and 3.50mm crochet hooks, or the hook sizes needed to achieve the correct gauge.
