The Weaving Explorer | Deborah Jarchow and Gwen Steege (Discontinued)
Ingenious Techniques, Accessible Tools & Creative Projects with Yarn, Paper, Wire & More
The fundamental technique of weaving is over, and under, making it a very approachable craft. However, the high cost of a commercial loom has proven to be a barrier for many would-be weavers.
The Weaving Explorer by Deborah Jarchow and Gwen Steege breaks down that barrier and invites crafters and artists to experiment with a wide variety of creative techniques and projects that can be completed with a basic homemade loom or even without one at all!
The folk weaving traditions that Jarchow and Steege are inspired by are given a modern twist by the addition of an unexpected range of materials and home décor projects. Crafters will enjoy learning how to create their own unique variations on these lovely and useful creations, which range from sturdy rag fabric grocery bags to freeform wire baskets, delicately woven thread bracelets to colourful woven rugs.
