Ashford Protein Dyes Primary Colour Kit
Vibrant Dyes for Protein Fibres
The Ashford Protein Dyes contains 3 primary colours - Red, Sapphire and Bright yellow to make all the colours of the rainbow.
Dyes require white vinegar as the mordant and heat to set (microwave, stove-top or steam). To make the dye solution: dissolve 10gm dye powders in a little hot water. Once dissolved add enough cold water to bring the solution to 850mls. Add 150mls white vinegar. This makes a 1% dye solution that will dye 1kg of fibre, yarn or fabric.
Colours may vary. Different fibres\yarns do not always dye the same colour. Dyeing technique, mordants and water can cause variation. Monitors display colours differently.
The dyes are safe and easy to use and comply with Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
Available sizes are 10gm (¼oz).

Ashford dyes are non-hazardous to humans given that they are used correctly and appropriately. These are composed of weak acid dyes fixed with only common white vinegar and heat.
These dyes are compliant with the strict EU regulations and Ashford can confirm that materials coloured with their dyes can be certified under the Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This standard is the most widely known standard for certification of ecologically-safe clothing. Fabrics, yarn, and fibres that have been coloured using Ashford dyes can come in contact with the skin without risk.
