The Ballerina Wrap is a delicate cropped cardigan designed to sit neatly at the waist. Its simple stockinette stitch and wrap construction make it an easy layer to pair with full skirts and dresses without covering the shape of the outfit.

The sample is in Merino in the Raspberry Red colourway + Soft Silk Mohair in the Pink Daisies colourway.
The cardigan is knitted from the top down using one strand of Merino and one strand of Soft Silk Mohair held together throughout. The back neckband is worked first, followed by picked-up stitches that form the yoke. Raglan increases shape the yoke before the work is divided at the underarms.
The sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the body is completed back and forth. Additional shaping is worked across the front before the body is finished with a sideways hem. Attached ties complete the wrap, with an opening on one side allowing one of the ties to pass through.
The sleeves are returned to the needles and worked seamlessly from the top down in the round in stockinette stitch, finishing with a folded edge.
The tie length can be adjusted to suit your preference, allowing the Ballerina Wrap to be secured either at the front or around the back for a different look.

Yarn: 1 strand of Knitting for Olive Merino (250 m [273 yd] / 50 g [1.8 oz]), fingering-weight yarn, 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3) balls + 1 strand of Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (225 m [246 yd] / 25 g [0.9 oz]), lace-weight yarn, 2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 4) balls.
Needles: 3.5 mm / US4 and 4.5 mm / US7 circular and double-pointed needles, or in size to obtain gauge
Gauge (after blocking): 20 sts and 29 rows = 10 cm [4”] in st st with 4.5 / US7 needles
Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn, stitch holders or spare cable, tapestry needle
