Reeds for the Ashford Rigid Heddle and Sampleit are available for differing yarns. The 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10dpi (10, 20, 30 and 40/10cm) reeds feature the wide eye for novelty yarns.
The fine 12.5dpi (50/10cm) and the NEW extra fine 15dpi (60/10) reeds are also available.
Made from strong, durable nylon with Silver Beech rails in a natural timber finish.
What size do I need?
The reed size you select will depend on the project, the yarn and the finish you are wanting to achieve. The following is a guide only.
2.5dpi (10/10) - 14 ply, chunky yarns and art yarns
5dpi (20/10) - 12 ply and thick yarns
7.5dpi (30/10) - 8ply and novelty yarns
10dpi (40/10) - 4ply and sock yarn
12.5dpi (50/10) - laceweight, 2ply cottons and silk
15dpi (60/10) - laceweight, fine 2ply, cotton and silk.
Once you are feeling adventurous and want to add varying texture to your project, you can try the Ashford Vari dent reeds which allow you to use different sized yarns in the same project.
